Indonesia’s official currency is Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) / Rp. According to the national regulation, all transaction must be conducted in rupiah. The highest denomination for banknote is IDR 100.000 with IDR 1.000 as the smallest.
Major credit and debit cards are widely accepted in hotels, large restaurants and stores. ATMs with Cirrus or Alto networks are common in all major Indonesian cities and tourist destinations with various denominations, IDR 100.000 and IDR 50.000 being the most common. Buying or exchanging currency in Indonesia can be done at the local banks or money changers.
